When we're planting in the Spring, we just slide the side up and rake all of the compost out and around the garden. One of our trash bins is for compost only. They take it away once a week to a giant field. It is quite a nice program. Thank you for the information, it is interesting to know how it works. LOL I love composting. It's not only given me something better to do with kitchen scraps that would otherwise stink up a trash bag, but it's also given my garden food! I can't believe how much healthier my garden is this year since I've been feeding it regular compost. And the kids are totally interested in the process. They watch when I turn my pile how everything is in different stages of decomposition. Loved the post! However, I made it too big and there's no way to get in or out of it to turn the compost. It's also really hard to get the compost out when it's ready. I definitely recommend having a door of some sort on your compost bin. My compost bin has unfortunately been overtaken by BERMUDA grass this year, and now I'm not sure what I'm going to do.
