double daring book for girlsWell, I have had a chance to peruse through most of  this book and it is as amazing as the first one, if not more so. It really is a rare treasure for girls and women everywhere and surely a must have for mothers and daughters.

The book is The Double-Daring Book for Girls by Andrea J. Buchanan & Miriam Peskowitz. It is a collection of adventures, activities, crafts, and information designed for girls. It has everything from a how to surf instruction guide, to information on girls who risked everything to escape slavery in the Underground Railroad, to step by step instructions on how to run away and join the circus. It is really a tribute to girl power!

It is also an exceptional book for exposing your daughters to new ideas and activities. The chapter on hosting your own Japanese Tea ceremony for instance is educational in a worldly sense and yet fun. Imagine how fun it would be to dress up in Asian inspired clothes and have a Japanese tea ceremony with your daughter(s).You could also use the book to make your own batik or tie a sarong. It has fun math tricks and lists you would need for going camping and fishing. It has a section on quilting and also how to be a practical DIY type of gal who doesn’t rely on a man to do household tasks.

Yes, this book is IMO all about empowering girls. I would be an awesome book to read with an important girl in your life, chapter by chapter, exploring all the activities as you go. Both of you would learn a great deal. It would be a perfect addition for the homeschool family, no doubt about it! And of course you can do virtually everything in it with boys too.

To break in the book my daughter and I accepted the “dare” to put on a show. So we put on a  mermaid show for the menfolk in our lives. I dare “you” to do the same. Or at least pick up the book and find a daring activity of your own. ;)
