Safer Plastic Bath Toys

Boon has quickly become one of my favorite companies for kids products. Their BPA free bowls and utensils for kids rock, they have an awesome potty bench that we are using, and the design is modern yet slightly retro. The design mom in me loves them. Oh and they are also sticklers for safe plastics that won’t poison our kids.

They have just come out with some really cute and safe bath toys that are free of BPA, PVC, and phthalates.

The Scrubble (picture above) - A set of three interchangeable bulbs and textured attachments. For fun, fill the bulb with water and squeeze it out. The toys are easy to keep clean, just unscrew the parts—and they can even go in the dishwasher.

The Splat – This is a really cool looking, floating ring toss. How fun is that? Includes one floating post and three colorful rings.

Water Bugs – Kids can scoop up these colorful critters as they glide across the water. Set includes three floating bugs and a mesh net. My kids would LOVE this!

I love boon, we have their potty, frog pod, and tub faucet protector thing…

  2. Keri says:

are these made with recycled plastic or are they making new plastic to create these toys? are they recyclable after you are done using their products? these are important for any “green” person to ask… their website didn’t answer any of my question.

  3. Tiffany says:

    Keri,

I don’t know the answer to that. I would rather have verified safe plastic toys than recycled ones that could contain a mish mash of plastics that could be potentially toxic. Using recycled plastics is often best but when there aren’t many options…like with bath toys, then safer plastics are important.

Thanks so much for the info! I just bought 2 snack balls, a spoon and fork set and the bath toys for my son! What great products!! And Amazon is offering free shipping too on them when you buy over $25!! Yey!

  5. Maria says:

I tried to buy the scrubbles, but they weren’t out yet. The Splat is awesome though. I had to pry my son from the tub… two hours later!

Hey! I just bought that Boon potty bench! I didn’t even know what I was doing… just saw that it was 50% off at Target!

And Keri, you can “recycle” any used toys or plastic ware by donating them, selling them, handing them down, etc. It’s actually less impact than what melting them down to create new toys would be.

  7. Kathy says:

These look great I’d want all 3 for my twins!

  8. Keri says:

I definitely donate unused stuff or hand them down but my goal this year is not to buy new plastic. If I buy new plastic, I prefer that it be recycled plastic, not new because it adds more waste to our landfills.

  9. andiscandis says:

I you can do it, then you should write a book about how to eliminate new plastic from your life. My husband and I have been trying for years but every time we buy a loaf of bread or box of cereal or a toothbrush, there’s another bit of plastic packaging going into the landfill.

  10. Keri says:

We make our own bread, bring our own cloth bags to buy cereal in bulk and use recycled plastic toothbrushes. ;) I’m far from perfect and still learn every day how to eliminate plastic as much as possible. Fake Plastic Fish’s blog is a great resource! =D

My 2 year old loves his boon potty bench. I would recommend it !

  12. Monica says:

Ah Boon! Sigh, the most expensive bath toys we ever bought…We just endured a major vet bill because my cat tore up and ingested the “bath goods.” bath toys
They are wonderful products but a “heads up” for animal owners: store them away when traveling or when not in use!

  13. Janese says:

Finally, bath toys! I have been on the lookout for a while as you always see “better” toys for ever occasion but the bath tub! Apparently, I was looking in all the wrong places. I am going to replace my daughter’s toys with these and I hope they continue their good work–thanks for the information!
