I am a big fan of meditation. It really helps me to focus and breathe when I reserve a few minutes or longer everyday to meditate. Usually I sit down on the floor with my iPod and do a guided meditation or listen to some soft music. I walk away feeling so energized and alive or relaxed…whatever I happen to need at that moment…there is really nothing like it. I get the same flow of energy from exercise too so it makes sense that I like Yoga as well. And I think yoga is great for kids too. So I was very happy to receive a Lotuspad yoga mat from the Lotuspad company recently. It is a yoga mat for kids that is as good for them as it is for the planet.
It has all the features of a regular yoga mat…it is soft and non-slip but yet it is also much more than that. It provides excellent traction so that it is safe for them to use, the closed cell construction means it won’t harbor bacterial or fungal growth, and unlike traditional PVC mats it is made from TPE or Thermoplastic Elastomer a biodegradeable material. This is a welcome product as PVC is one of the poison plastics that is bad for health and bad for the planet. I am elated to find an eco friendly alternative.
They also come in some very lovely colors…we got the green and my daughter was over the moon when she saw it. Up until that time she had just been using my mat for her “exercises” so having her own made her very happy. The pictures here show my 3 year old princess and her new yoga mat. Check out Lotuspad Yoga Mats!

Very cute!! I have a 4 year old boy who LOVES yoga and I can’t find a class around here for anyone under 6. I have checked out a few kids yoga videos but they are all - is goofy the right word? Any suggestions for videos? He likes yoga and remembers all the moves he learns. I don’t really know it well and would rather have him get a good foundation and learn it right from the start. Thanks…!
