We have felt the need to turn the heat on a number of times unfortunately (unfortunate b/c we try and go without heat for as long as we can - not because of the fall weather). The thought of pumpkin soup right now is really appealing. Fall is definitely my favourite time of year: I like nothing better than to curl up on the couch with a wool blanket, cup of tea and a good book or knitting. We're actually sleeping with the windows closed because it's too cold for dh to have them open at night (Pacific Northwest). It won't be long before the boys are begging me to turn on the heat in the morning. The leaves are starting to turn on our sugar maples, and I baked apple pie yesterday with apples from our trees. It's been such a cold summer, though, that except for a little nip in the air, you'd hardly know the difference from a month ago.... I have to laugh.
