fall leavesIt is in the air I think. It is coming….Fall.

This morning when I was walking my son to the street corner to catch his bus it was very crisp and cool, I could see my breathe, and that smell was in the air….it can only described as Fall. It is not quite here yet but it is lurking around the corner and I couldn’t be happier as Fall is my favorite time of the year. I am anxious to put on my jeans and sweaters, to attend the annual Applefest and Circleville Pumpkin Festival, to eat warm pumpkin soup and sip candy apple tea. I am REALLY looking forward to my first Fall in our new home and seeing how our 50 plus trees change color. And of course it wouldn’t be Fall without my usual drive through Ohio countryside visiting covered bridges in the area.

So can you see it coming yet in your neck of the woods?

Yes, the oppressive heat and humidity is *faintly* lifting. Fall is also my favorite time of year. I always get giddy, like spring fever, in fall.

My dear friend from college raves about the Circleville Pumpkin Festival - how funny that you mentioned it! Down here in Atlanta, we’re just enjoying the fact that the temperature has dipped below 90. It’ll be several more weeks before we really see anything like fall… My favorite season can’t come soon enough.

Fall is my favorite time of year too but unfortunately, here in the desert, it’s nowhere in sight.

We actually just slept with the windows open last night for the first time this summer without air conditioning here in Japan. The neighbors were noisy till after midnight and then up again about 5:00 am, but the cooler air felt great!

No such luck here in Texas, there’s really no such thing as fall here. I have always dreamed of spending fall in Vermont. I guess since I was born in October I have always been partial to fall.

Yes, I love fall!! It is my favorite season. I am looking forward to long shadows in the afternoon, ironing leaves between pieces of wax paper, and cold toes that warm up with a good pair of cozy socks.

I can feel it coming, and I am ready! I’m thinking about putting up my fall wreath, doing some apple picking, and I can’t wait to start cooking with pumpkin (enough of the zucchini already!) We had our windows open the other night and had to sleep with a down comforter - blissful!

I have to laugh. We’re actually sleeping with the windows closed because it’s too cold for dh to have them open at night (Pacific Northwest). It won’t be long before the boys are begging me to turn on the heat in the morning. The leaves are starting to turn on our sugar maples, and I baked apple pie yesterday with apples from our trees. It’s been such a cold summer, though, that except for a little nip in the air, you’d hardly know the difference from a month ago….

Where I live (Calgary, Alberta) fall often starts in August. We have felt the need to turn the heat on a number of times unfortunately (unfortunate b/c we try and go without heat for as long as we can - not because of the fall weather). The thought of pumpkin soup right now is really appealing. Fall is definitely my favourite time of year: I like nothing better than to curl up on the couch with a wool blanket, cup of tea and a good book or knitting.

Hey Tiffany - Isn’t fall wonderful? I’m fall baby and chose to have my wedding in the fall. I feel so joyful during this season. I love your description of your early morning walk to the bus stop with your son…such special times.

I remember when our young family lived in the Ohio countryside…we loved our time there (Hartville) and hope to return soon.

Fall is my favorite season too. It was in the air this morning, and on the ground in my first ripe pumpkins.

In our country, we don’t have fall. We have summer all year long. How nice if you could see golden color blanketing the Earth.
