I agree with you. Here in our place water is one of the major sources of diseases. Because of this most household are resorting to bottled or processed drinking water. In our house, dad bought this water purifier which contains some stones or pebbles that contribute in the purification of water. This can be used several times or after some time. The pebbles shall then undergo activation in order to revive their purifying activity. Since we started using this purifier, our expenses on buying processed water decreased.

Yeah, and I even worry about so called plastic 'reusable' bottles. The only ones I will really trust will be those I buy at serious camping/outdoor stores. The rest I don't trust. I know that a lot of brands like Aquafina claim to store their water into reusable bottles (therefore there is no leak of dangerous chemicals) but I'm not inclined to agree with them on this point. I still think there's some cheating going on somewhere down the line.
In the long run, even though water purification systems can be expensive, it might just cost you less than years of buying $2.00 water!

I agree! Even if Aquafina is good water when it leaves the filter, it sits in a plastic bottle for God knows how long. Plastic leaches toxic chemicals into your water. Please see my blog post for more information:

The ideal would to get a reverse osmosis filter put on your own tap water.
If only I had the $! We do love our Brita and Sigg and KK bottles though.

For us, the thriftiest green tip has been using cloth... diapers, napkins, rags.
It took awhile to get into the reusuable mindset, but now I'm branching out into reusable plates and silverwear for parties. (Purchase inexpensive glass plates at Bed Bath & Beyond and flatwear at thriftstores.)

I don't think it's totally fair to call Aquafina and other purified water "glorified tap water." Aquafina goes through a 7-step purification process that includes reverse osmosis. I think it's great that people are trying to cut back on how much unnecessary trash they put out but sometimes you still need to fall back on the convenience factor. The tap water in my area is not consistently safe to drink, so if I am not at home using my own filter, I want to buy something that I know is clean...refilling my bottle from a public water fountain is just not an option here.
