Have you heard of The Compact? Well, it is a group of people in San Francisco agreeing to buy nothing new in the coming year except food, health and safety items, and underwear. They are taking Reduce, Reuse, Recycle a step further in their effort to step outside the consumer machine. Good for them!
On their group blog today one of the members discusses how many new members they have gotten recently due to media exposure. Here are just some of the reasons why some are joining the Compact revolution:
To teach their kids that there’s more to life than stuff
To be a better steward of Earth.
To help live within a limited budget
Those are some great reasons to adopt a greener lifestlye.

[...] I am not surprised that parenting bloggers are throwing their support behind The Compact in which participants attempt to buy nothing new for one year with a few exceptions such as food, underwear and tooth brushes. Christina at Inside Motherhood and Solo Mother is in. The Nature Moms, whose fantastically-written and well researched blog is helping all of us live greener lives, are also spreading the word. [...]
