I used to use Colgate Icy Blast as my preferred toothpaste but when I decided to make the switch to more natural products I selected Auromere Herbal Toothpaste to test out. The results so far are outstanding! This toothpaste contains 24 herbal extracts including the “toothbrush trees” Neem & Peelu, along with other barks, roots, plants, and flowers esteemed for their assistance with dental care. It is pure and natural, contains no fluoride, artificial preservatives, saccharin, or artificial sweeteners. It is also a cruelty free product. Also, since it is an Ayurvedic product it is compatible with Homeopathic remedies. So how does it taste? Delicious! It tastes very much like black licorice. This product deserves Nature Mom’s highest praise.
Here is a comparison of the ingredients!

Do you ever stop thinking that our body is a master a piece, the product of billions of years of evolution and that we are of the most elegant and highly evolved species of this planet Earth. Our environment, lifestyle, diet and even thought affect our well-being every day. By living healthfully we can take responsibilities for improving our entire being which can actually improve your genetics in a process of evolution. Or, by living unhealthy we will likely incur weakened and even derange genes in a sad process of de-evolution, culminating in failing vitality, illness and early death. One of the biggest factors in living a healthy life is our diet. It is actually the food that keeps us alive and at the same time kills us, with all the chemicals that are being put into it.
The above is part of a new article we have added to Nature Moms. Read the rest of the article on Healthy Natural Eating.

U.S. government scientists from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) have released a new study revealing that switching to organic foods provides children with “dramatic and immediate” protection from toxic
pesticides. The scientists tested the urine of elementary school children for 15 days. Children ate conventional foods for ten of the days and ate organic foods for five days. During those five days, researchers saw the toxins malathion and chlorpyrifos in the children’s urine completely disappear. These chemicals are two of the most commonly found pesticides on non-organic foods, and are associated with nerve damage in children. Pesticide levels increased five-fold in the children’s urine as soon as conventional foods were reintroduced to their diet. The study concludes, “An organic diet provides a dramatic and immediate protective effect against exposure to organophosphorus pesticides that are commonly used in agricultural production.”

Several online petitions are making the rounds today as the news hits that the USDA is deliberately refusing to take action against factory farms who are unethically selling their products as “organic.” No doubt they are being pressured big time by the conventional agriculture business to weaken the organic foods laws and make it easier for them to profit from the organic market while making no real changes to the way they farm. As a consumer I am outraged!
Unscrupulous “organic” dairy farms are using the USDA’s inaction and a loophole in the current federal organic regulations to import young calves from non-organic conventional farms, where the animals have been weaned on cow blood, injected or medicated with antibiotics, and fed genetically engineered feed laced with slaughterhouse waste. This is unfair to genuine organic farmers, who follow strict organic principles on pasture access, animal feed, and import animals. It is also unfair to the consumer who expects that he or she can actually rely on the federal regulations that supposedly govern the activities of organic farms.
I have signed several online petitions today and I am actively looking for more ways to show the government that I demand that the federal laws in regards to organic foods be strengthened and NOT weakened. Here is one such petition to sign. Of course…what you can accomplish with a petition is limited becuause money talks, right? Do one better and STOP buying from companies that do not take these regulations seriously or lobby for weakening the laws. Only when people spend their money with a purpose and support companies that support the earth and the ideas you believe in, will things change.
Good Luck!!

Here are a few more steps to consider when trying making the move to a more natural family life:
1. Buy local! When you buy locally grown produce you are not supporting the pollution that occurs while conventional foods are transported across the country or several countries.
2. If you must by some items that are NOT local, buy fair trade and other eco-friendly goods. Buying fair trade goods makes sure that the producers in the Third World always get a fair price.
3. Drive less. How about living closer to your work, joining a car pool, or taking a walk or cycling? Driving less means fewer pollutants in the air.
You are on your way!
